Best Man Speech — English First of all, I would like to thank Serenella and Giampiero for raising the man we all came to love, and for passing on to him those values that have made him such a special person. To them goes my very first toast. For those who don’t know me, I’m Totò — also known as Il Totis, as Maurizio calls me. I’ve had the privilege of knowing the groom for half of my life, and only he knows how uncomfortable it feels for me to give a nice speech like this one. But my best friend just got married, and he chose me as his best man, so in the past few days I’ve had to talk quite a lot about Maurizio… with ChatGPT! The truth is, I embraced this task — which is truly an honor — as a chance to reflect on how life-changing it is to have a real friend: one with whom you build unforgettable memories, who’s there even if you don’t talk every day, who’s ready to give you the right advice, support you in times of change, or jump on a spontaneous trip that turns out to be unforgettable. For me, Maurizio is all of this and much more. It was with him that I lived the most beautiful period of my teenage years, when we moved to London and, together, faced the challenges of adult life for the first time: our first job, our first shared apartment abroad, our first experience in a culture so different from ours. Through the years, I’ve witnessed what it means to live by the values that define Maurizio, and today we see the results: all of us here, friends and family, gathered in joy to celebrate the milestone reached by this wonderful couple. Ranim and Mauri truly are a perfect match. It’s as if someone designed them to be together: both full of life, curious about the world, open-minded, each with their own passions, yet united by a deep and powerful love for one another. I was a witness to that love from the very beginning: I’ll never forget the sparkle in Maurizio’s eyes the first time he spoke to me about Ranim. I had never seen him like that before. In that moment, everything was already clear: he had found the woman of his life, and he was ready to give his all to this relationship. Now, my friends know I don’t have the best memory — probably because the number of wonderful experiences we’ve lived together exceeds my ability to recall them all. But that sparkle in Maurizio’s eyes… that I will always remember. It’s the same light that makes this couple shine so brightly today. With all my heart, I wish you both the very best. Totò
